Chatham Maritime





Chatham Maritime is already a thriving community of around a 1,000 homes of a variety of sizes and state-of-the-art designs. Many of the housing developments, such as the Fishing Village and Ventura, have won numerous awards for the quality of their design and are regularly featured in the property sections of newspapers and magazines.

The majority of the homes at Chatham Maritime have been built by a joint venture between SEEDA and developer Countryside Properties Plc under the banner of Countryside Maritime Ltd.

Amenities include a state-of-the-art community centre and doctors' surgery on St Mary's Island, the main residential section of Chatham Maritime. Other community facilities include a day nursery and primary school, while excellent secondary schools are just a few minutes drive away from Chatham Maritime. Two prestigious private schools are based in nearby Rochester, while those seeking further education facilites will find plenty of opportnuities. There are 3 Universitites and a Further Education College to choose from, which are made up of the University of Kent, University of Greenwich, Cantebury Christ Church University and Mid-Kent College.

Within walking distance of all the homes are a convenience store, hotel, restaurant and pub, while on the island itself residents can also enjoy views of the River Medway by using a riverside walk and cycleway.

There are also three recreational areas on the island designed to provide safe, well-lit places for children to play, along with the all-weather sports pitch. Residents are also encouraged to make use of the gymnasium facilities at the university campus.
