Community facilities

Residents living at Chatham Maritime enjoy a host of community facilities, and on St Mary's island there are a number of amenities to make life easier.

A state-of-the-art community centre which is now used by a number of different organisations, from mother-and-toddler groups to dance troupes and aerobics classes.

Next door is the 3 GP Doctors' surgery, run by GP Dr Lawrence; the surgery takes residents from the island and encourages students from the University of Medway to register as well. Next door to the surgery is a new pharmacy which opened in 2008. To contact the surgery call 01634 890712.

Four churches use the St Mary's Island Church of England Primary School as a base for their congregations - The Christian Church on St. Mary's Island works in partnership with St. Mark's (C of E) Church, Gillingham, Gillingham Baptist Church and The Medway Towns Group of United Reformed Churches.
